Germany’s Renewable Energy Disaster – Part 4: ‘Social Disaster’: Wind Turbines Wrecking Rural Communities

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Germany’s wind and solar experiment has failed: the so-called ‘Energiewende’ (energy transition) has turned into an insanely costly debacle.

German power prices have rocketedblackouts and load shedding are the norm; and idyllic rural communities are now industrial wastelands (see above).

Hundreds of billions of euros have been squandered on subsidies to wind and solar, all in an effort to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions. However, that objective has failed too: CO2 emissions continue to rise.

But you wouldn’t know it from what appears in the mainstream media. Its reticence to report on what’s actually going on in Germany probably stems from the adage about success having many fathers, and failure being an orphan. Having promoted Germany as the example of how we could all ‘transition’ to an all RE future, it’s pretty hard for them to suck it up and acknowledge that they were taken for fools.

Weather Wages War on Wind Power: Typhoon Topples Turbine in Japan

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

How ironic it is that a wholly weather dependent power source has such a bitterly hard time coping with the … ahem … weather.

When Hurricane Maria visited Puerto Rico last year, she managed to splatter wind turbine blades all over the island, leaving residents completely powerless: Weather Dependent Wind Power: Leaves Hurricane Victims Powerless

A typhoon in Taiwan did much the same:

And lightning has been laying them to waste in Ireland:

It’s almost as if Mother Nature has got it in for these things? This time a little blow in Japan managed to knock another one out of the game.

Calculated Chaos: Renewable Energy Zealot’s Wind & Solar Plan for California Just Doesn’t Add Up

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Mad Bill doesn’t just look like a zealot …

Facts, reason and logic have never troubled the true believers in our ‘inevitable transition’ to an all wind and sun powered future.

Trifling matters, like cost and reliability, are dismissed in an instant. The slaughter of millions of birds and bats, swept under the carpet. And the environmental havoc wreaked across countryside carpeted in thousands of toxic turbines and solar panels from horizon to horizon, is deemed to be all for the greater good.

They’re not called zealots, for nothing. As Robert Bryce details below.

A fully renewable California?
Los Angeles Times
Robert Bryce

Back in 2012, the environmental organization 350.org and its leader, Bill McKibben, took a “Do the Math” tour across America to talk about “the terrifying math of the climate crisis.” Alas, it appears McKibben has since developed an allergy to simple arithmetic.

Reality Bites: ‘Transition’ to All Wind & Solar Powered Future Pure Fantasy

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

Plenty of destructive ideas have been launched on the back of well-crafted propaganda campaigns. The wind and solar industries have used every trick in the PR book, turning pure fantasy into an all-too-real nightmare.

Where electricity was once an essential service, which governments went out of their way to insure was available to all-comers, heavily subsidised, weather dependent wind and solar have trashed that idea. Nowadays, governments of all persuasions have taken to educating the populous that they are ‘demand resources’ and subject to ‘demand management’. That is, unceremoniously chopping the power supply to households and businesses, whenever the sun sets or calm weather sets in.

Rocketing power prices have a more immediate and permanent effect – tens of thousands of Australian households can no longer afford electricity and have had their power cut off, completely: Australia’s Self-Inflicted Renewable Energy Crisis: 200,000 Families Can’t Afford Power

Wind & Solar Built On Endless Lies, Broken Promises & Massive Subsidies

stopthesethings's avatarSTOP THESE THINGS

The greatest con job in history started with the idea that you can run an economy on sunshine and breezes.

Sequentially, inevitably, every myth and lie put forward by renewable energy rent seekers and their shrinking band of acolytes gets busted and exposed.

Lines like: wind power is cheaper than coal (it isn’t); the wind is always blowing somewhere (it isn’t); this wind farm will power 30,000 homes (it doesn’t and never will); and that the ‘transition’ to an all renewable energy future is simply inevitable (sure, provided it’s a transition to the Dark Ages that you’re looking for?) – sound even more nonsensical, by the day.

The example set by South Australia provides more than enough ammunition for those keen to hammer RE zealots.

As does this piece of analysis by Norman Rogers.

Temperature tampering temper tantrums — Watts Up With That?

By Christopher Monckton of Brenchley Commenters on my recent threads explaining the gaping error my team has found in official climatology’s definition of “temperature feedback” have asked whether I will update my series pointing out the discrepancy between the overblown predictions in IPCC’s First Assessment Report of 1990 on which the climate scam was based…

Germany’s Renewable Energy Disaster – Part 3: Wind & Solar Deemed ‘Economic Nonsense’
